Koi Carp Pox White waxy globules in fins and skin
CARP POX is another virus of a dermatological nature, that also has a low transmissibility from fish to fish, and is again, not fatal, merely disfiguring. The lesions are soft and waxy, not warty and rough. The lesions should not be scraped. They may be differentiated from Lymphocystis because they do NOT cause the cells to become huge (megaloblastic) in size. The way Lymph does. There is no treatment, and lesions do not resolve as well as Lympho lesions do. You should be aware that CARPPOX lesions are very, very rare in North America. Many people report that warming the fish up, and salting to % are sometimes sufficient to remedy these lesions. The belief is that the warmth stimulates the immune response and the lesions clear on their own.
3. Physiotherapy/ Desensititation of movement . As the symptoms of PPD have built up, most people avoid moving their eyes, neck and body as much as they used to. Physiotherapy and specific vestibular physiotherapy can be useful to help desensitise the nervous system and start to overcome ingrained patterns of movement. Read the physio page to see general principles of physiotherapy in functional disorders. There are additional special exercises for dizziness that a physiotherapists can introduce you to if they have training in that area.
Distress or confusion tends to be episodic in nature. Once an episode has passed or if the psychiatric drug is not helping we may wish to stop taking the drug. If we want to reduce or stop our dependence on psychiatric medication, it is important to develop other ways of balancing mood and dealing with difficult mind states. It is also important to develop a support network around you that will support you in this coming off process. We recommend where possible people work collaboratively with their prescriber to negotiate the coming off process. Reducing medication can be a difficult process so it is important to prepare well before starting a reduction process.
